Relationship + Anxiety Therapy for Couples & Singles
Therapy is full of psychological jargon that means a lot of really cool stuff for you but is also quite technical.
So if you want to get into the details of my training & experience and how this will help you create the happy & healthy relationships you’ve always wanted … keep reading.
But I warn you: It’s quite “academic” and long. I’m happy to summarize it all for you during our free consultation.
As a Relationship & Anxiety Specialist, I focus on supporting individuals and couples who want to have happy and fulfilling relationships that last.
My approach is centered on creating a safe and understanding environment where we can explore emotions and experiences together. I believe deeply in the potential for personal growth and self-discovery.
I work alongside my clients to uncover underlying patterns and challenges, including anxiety, that may affect their relationships now or in the future.
Through empathy and genuine care, I empower my clients to develop greater self-awareness and compassion, and to build stronger, more authentic connections with others.
Together, we embark on a journey of discovery and growth, learning new ways to navigate relationships and manage anxiety along the way.
In my work with childfree couples and those currently without kids, I aim to help them turn their good relationships into something even better, with strong, lasting foundations. I do this by focusing on each person's unique strengths and needs.
Plus, we create a supportive and understanding environment where everyone can explore their feelings openly. Together, we delve into the core of their relationship dynamics, uncovering what makes them thrive and what might be holding them back.
With deep respect for each individual's journey, we work on enhancing communication, building trust, and deepening emotional connection. My goal is to empower couples to embrace their authenticity, cultivate mutual understanding, and create a lasting relationship that feels fulfilling and meaningful for both partners.
COUNSELING & THERAPY TECHNIQUES
In therapy, I focus on helping you build healthy and happy relationships, both with yourself and with others. Whether you're a childfree person/couple or in your "pre-parent" stage of life, this can be a unique opportunity to concentrate on the foundation of yourself and your relationships through tools you'll learn in therapy.
I empower you through techniques to explore your past experiences, understand your thoughts and feelings in the present, and find meaning and purpose in your life.
By fostering self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills, my goal is to support you in building strong, meaningful relationships that bring joy and fulfillment to your life.
COMMITMENT TO CULTURAL COMPETENCY IN THERAPY AND COUNSELING
Throughout my journey as a counselor, I've had the honor of working with amazing people from all walks of life. From the days of flip phones to now, I've learned so much about how to better support my clients, especially those with different backgrounds than mine. I truly believe in the power of curiosity and growth. As your therapist, I want you to feel comfortable and understood. That's why I'm always here to listen, learn, and grow alongside you. I know how important it is to acknowledge our differences and embrace them. In my office, it's all about celebrating your unique journey and exploring how we can work together to help you thrive. Let's start this journey together, one step at a time.
EXISTENTIAL EXPLORATION
Existential therapy is a way of counseling that looks at big questions about life, like what it all means and what we're here for.
It's all about understanding ourselves and our place in the world. This type of therapy is really helpful for both singles and couples who want to build happy, fulfilling lives.
By talking about these big questions, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and what they you want out of life. This can lead to more confidence, resilience, and happiness, whether you’re single or in a relationship.
It helps you figure out what's really important to YOU and how to live your best live, both on your own and with a partner.
EDUCATION
I earned two master’s degrees (MS) from East Carolina University: one in clinical psychology and substance use disorders, and another in Rehabilitation and Career Counseling. With these degrees, I have gained valuable skills to help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas where I am able to see clients in person or virtually. It also demonstrates additional training and ability to supervise and support new counselors as they transition from graduate school into working full time.
In Florida, I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I am able to see clients virtually through their reciprocity program.
EXPERIENCE
Before starting my private practice I worked in various hospitals and clinics in North Carolina, Chicago, Illinois, and Houston, Texas providing counseling to adults with a variety of needs all seeking a more comfortable and joyful life.
Throughout my experiences, beginning as student in the late aughts until now, I have worked hard to help people overcome anxiety and build confident healthy relationships. Focusing first on relationship with self in order to have healthy and happy relationships with friends, family, colleagues, and romantic partners.
There are so many ways to approach this type of work and one is through accessing our subconscious mind.
Additional Training
In order to better understand and utilize the subconscious, I decided to learn clinical hypnosis. An amazing tool to address deep rooted beliefs, relationship patters, anxiety, and the things that keep us stuck in cycles that no longer work for us.
I also realize that happy healthy relationships are not as simple as “love yourself first before you can love anyone else” or any other over simplified quote that is easily pinned on Pinterest or hung on a poster in classroom.
People are dynamic and have many unique qualities they bring to every situation. Which is why I sought out and have completed the Level 1 and Level 2 training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. While the training is focused on romantic and, primarily married, couples, I use the skills and tools from this highly regarded training model for all relationships we have in our lives.
