Let’s Talk Insurance

Hey there, it's important to me at Cathartic Counseling, that everyone has access to the care they need. That's why I'm part of several insurance panels.

But let's talk about the fine print — including the pros & cons of Insurance for Therapy

If you're interested in using your insurance, no worries. I’ve got you.

When seeking therapy for something typically covered by UnitedHealthCare & Aetna in either Florida & Texas, I'm able to file those claims on your behalf.

Don't see your insurance listed? No problem! I can provide you with a “superbill” to submit to them. But remember, having insurance isn't a guarantee they'll cover everything, so be prepared for potential partial or no reimbursement.

Filing Insurance for Therapy

What you need to know about using your insurance for therapy

So, when it comes to relationship-focused work, insurance coverage can be limited. Plus, there's the privacy concern – insurers can peek into your records whenever they want, which isn’t great in my opinion.

Insurance rules can sometimes feel like they're more of a hurdle than a help. They require a mental health diagnosis from the DSM-5 for coverage, which doesn't always align with my belief in treating each person as a whole, not just focusing on what might be "wrong" with them.

And let's not forget, insurance companies call the shots on what they cover and for how long. Sometimes they'll decide to stop reimbursing for services because they believe you should be “fixed” or “cured” — which we both know is ridiculous. Plus, their decision-making process can take ages, leaving you with a hefty bill long after we've wrapped up our sessions.

An Alternative to Insurance for Therapy

If dealing with insurance feels like a headache, there's another option: Reimbursify (https://reimbursify.com). It's an online service that handles out-of-network billing like a champ. They'll check if your insurance provider offers reimbursement and, if eligible, they'll take care of submitting your claim for just $3.99 per session. Plus, they've got discounted packages available, and if there are any issues, they'll sort them out for you – no extra charge.

REDUCED RATE AVAILABILITY

Currently, all our sliding scale spots are spoken for, but fear not! If you're interested, give me a shout, and I'll pop you on the waiting list.

I totally get that being a student or a young professional can mean tight finances. That's why I offer sliding scale rates to make therapy accessible. Just let me know during our free consultation, and we'll figure out what works for you. Just keep in mind, spots for discounts are limited, so get in touch sooner rather than later. Oh, and don't forget your student ID for your first session!

POLICIES

Cancellation Policy: Life throws curveballs sometimes, and that's okay! If you need to cancel or reschedule, just give me a heads-up at least 48 hours before your appointment. If something comes up last minute, no worries – we'll figure it out, especially in emergencies. If you need to reschedule within 48 hours, we'll find another time later in the week that suits us both. If this doesn’t work out, you will be responsible for the entire scheduled session’s fee.

Payment: Let's keep things simple. I'll need to keep an active card on file for auto-pay through my secure billing system (ALMA). If there's any issue with a payment, I'll send you a link via email to update your card info before our next session.
